My name is Rachel Leven. I am a German nurse. I am in the war right now but in a special tent so when soldiers get hurt I can take care of them.
November 19,1917:
Today I have tooken cared of 20 injired men. 5 of the mens died while I was doin surgery on them. 1 of them had a bullet threw his head and the other men had a 2 bullets 10 of them got shot in the legs and I had to cut off 4 of the mens legs.
5 of the mens that came in today had a bullet threw their arms.
December 23,1917:
Its almost christmas and all I can think is about getting home safly to see my 3 wonderful kids. I have been away for them for quite awhile and I miss them so much. They have been wanting to see me and there father too. They have been staying with their Aunt Tracy and there Uncle Ben.
January 1,1918:
Today is New Years Eve and I got a letter today with a picture of my childern Lilly, Rico, and Drake. They wrote me a little note saying how much they love me and how Aunt Tracy got them a little dog and a little kitten. The puppys name is Pepper and she is a Husky mix with German Sheperd. The little kitten is named Pumpkin.
January 6,1918:
Today I just found out that my husband got shot in the leg and in the chest. Im trying my best to take care of him and make him better but each day he seems to be getting worst by the minute. Im so afraid that im gonna lose him.
January 9,1918:
My husband died late last night at 4:00. My partner Danillie Hisinburg told me that while i was sleeping they tried to do surgery on him trying to remove the bullets from his chest and leg. It turns out that while they were doing surgery he had a heart attack and just died. I dont know how im going to explain this to my kids. They are going to be so heart broken inside.

My little girls name is Lilly and she is 3 years old her birthday is on October 16, 1914 my oldest boy his name is Rico and he is 5 years old and his birthday is on June 26, 1912 and my yougest son he is 4 and his name is Drake and he was born on Febuary 14, 1913.
